Second Annual Appeal Making GREAT Progress!

12/29/2016

Picture
The Second Annual Appeal for financial contributions and volunteers is producing some exciting results. As of December 26th, 157 current members have renewed their membership and 69 new members have joined for 2017 totalling 225 households and $17,725 in contributions. With just one month to go to reach our goal of $22,000 from this appeal, reaching the 80% mark is encouraging and very much appreciated.

New member, Dave Christmas, says... “I have been coming to Brewster since I was a kid. My parents and I camped at Shady Knoll. Now, I spend one week a year in Brewster, because I am busy with my job. But, when I go, I fish; go to the beach;  go to Nickerson. I love the ponds. I am getting near retirement age and I plan to spend the summers in Brewster. I found out about your organization and thought it's kind of neat. There are so many ponds in Brewster. Brewster is perfect; the town has everything I want and I want to be there."

Thank you to everyone who has already donated and volunteered for one of the many Action Teams. Your generous contributions and participation are critical to accomplishing our goals in 2017. If you have not yet renewed your Annual Membership, please click here to do so online.   It's secure and easy!  Your efforts are making a difference.  Stay tuned to the NEWS/EVENTS page of our website for weekly updates throughout January.

The BPC Fundraising Thermometer Continues Its Climb!!!

Your generosity pushed the BPC annual appeal's total donations to just under $15,000 as of Decenber 20, over two-thirds of our $22,000 goal! A total of 206 individuals and households, including 146 renewals and 60 new members--donated to date!

Thank you, BPC members, for all your support thus far! And help us spread the word. Share our video with your friends and neighbors so they can see the BPC in action; and learn how we work to preserve Brewster's ponds.

With your help, we'll raise our final $7,000 before our appeal ends on January 31, 2017.

Thanks to Your Generosity, the BPC Reaches 60% of Its Goal!!

The BPC thermometer continues its rise towards the 100 percent mark. As of December 13, you’ve donated $13,280, which is just over 60 percent of our annual appeal goal of $22,000. This total includes 132 individual and families who renewed their 2017 membership and 47 new members who responded to our Brewster property owner mailer in November. Thank you for your support!

We’re excited to get this far, but we still have just over $8,800—or 40% of our goal to raise before January 31, 2017. Your donations will help us to:

  • Continue our Winter Education Forum Series and Social/Fun Events: Our Education/Events action committee is busily planning a winter series of talks and nature walks as well as our second annual member breakfast. Stay tuned for more details!

  • Implement Our New Pond Education Program: BPC board members and our AmeriCorps Member, Corey Bray, have begun research on the Pond Booklets to be included in the Pond Education Kits, and is working with The Family School, The Laurel School, and The Partnership School to organize program activities.

  • Continue Our Pond advocacy: Four BPC board members attended the 4th Annual Cape Coastal Conference in early December to explore pond restoration and educational strategies with other local pond environmental organizations. We continue to represent our ponds locally, especially as the Town explores new septic system regulations for pond front property owners.

We are very excited to get this campaign off the ground! Please help us get the rest of the way there:

  • If you haven’t already, please consider making a donation online on the BPC website and share this link on to as many people as you can.

  • If you’re still holiday shopping, please join the AmazonSmile program, which donates 0.5% of your Amazon purchase amount to the BPC.

  • Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to help spread the word about BPC activities.

We are determined to meet and hopefully even exceed our goal, but we can’t do it without you. Thank you so much for  your generosity and support!

We're excited to kick off our second annual appeal with our mailing to BPC members and Brewster property owners. Our 2017 goal is $22,000. We're off to a great start, raising over $8,500 to date. Please mail in your donation form, donate online on the BPC website, or join AmazonSmile, which donates 0.5% of your Amazon purchase amount to the BPC.

Thanks to you, the BPC bumpersticker is an increasingly common site around town. The BPC has grown to over 350 contributing members over past two years, working together to preserve Brewster's beautiful ponds.
  • Representing ponds on proposed town regulations and regional initiatives
  • Forming a community network to share common pond-related concerns and solutions
  • Developing resources to reduce pond pollution
  • Hosting educational and fun events to better understand and enjoy our beautiful ponds.

With your ongoing support, the BPC will build on our accomplishments in 2017:
  • Developing children's appreciation of ponds with a new grade school Pond Education program of science kits and fields trips
  • Helping more Brewster neighborhoods prevent storm run-off from polluting ponds by expanding remediation programs
  • Providing more pond-related information by expanding brewsterponds.org website resources
  • Continuing advocacy, education, and recreational activities.

Thank you to those who have already donated! Stay tuned for appeal updates!
