Updated BPC Events and Programs Calendar: May Edition

As of May 13, the Barnstable County Department of Health believes that Cape Cod is on a downward trend of COVID-19 cases. [Click here for story.] But the State of Massachusetts, the Town of Brewster, and local organizations remain cautious to prevent a COVID-19 reoccurrence by minimizing crowds and maintaining social distancing.

In view of these efforts, the BPC board decided to postpone or cancel programs and events:  

• Citizen Science Cyanobacteria Pond Testing Training: Two staff employees of our partner, the Association to Preserve Cape Cod, will sample and test Bakers, Cliff, Elbow, Sheep, Upper Mill, Lower Mill, and Walkers Ponds without BPC volunteers, beginning the first week in June and conducted every other week unless conditions require more frequent testing.
• School Pond Education Program Field Trips: Schools remain closed with students continuing to learn at home, and the pond field trips are canceled for 2020. 
• BPC Pond Summit: Scheduled for Saturday, June 27, this event is postponed, perhaps until the Fall, while the board considers how to hold this event, either virtually or in person. This may be held in conjunction with the previously postponed Spring Volunteer Fair. 
• Brewster Conservation Day: The BPC participates in this popular outdoor event hosted by the Brewster Conservation Trust, the Brewster Historical Society, and the Department of Natural Resources. Originally scheduled for Saturday, July 11, they've cancelled this year's event.
• Brewster Historical Society Farmers Market Community Table: The Brewster Farmers is scheduled to run this summer with strict social distancing guidelines. Currently, the BPC is slated to host a community table on Sunday, August 2. Stay tuned for more details.
• BPC Annual Meeting: Saturday, August, 8: For our members' safety, the board has decided to host a virtual annual meeting on this date. Stay tuned for more details.
• Eco-Paddle: A late summer Mill Pond eco-paddle is planned for a TBD date in September. At this time, this event is still scheduled because its outdoor venue makes it feasible to implement social distancing practices.
